The fourth Jet on this list, Mangold’s free agent status is the most surprising on the list. He missed eight games last year but had made three straight Pro Bowls before that.

Teams often view center as a cheap position, which could be a hang-up for a player used to earning bigger money. But it’s hard not to see Mangold playing somewhere for $2 million-$3 million this season.

The Chiefs are still going to be seeing Jamaal Charles at Arrowhead Stadium but it’s going only going to be once a season.

Broncos general manager John Elway announced Tuesday that Denver has signed the longtime Kansas City running back. According to multiple reports, Charles got a one-year deal worth up to $3.75 million.

Charles, 30, was released by the Chiefs in February after another injury-plauged season. His productivity had decreased over the last two years, largely because of the torn ACL he suffered in October 2015. He didn’t seem to fully recover from the injury, and didn’t take the field until Week 5 of the 2016 season.

He played in only three games until he suffered a setback in his knee that required surgery on his meniscus. Once again, Charles missed the end of the season.cubs_1635

LaVar Ball reportedly had eyeballed a $200 price tag for Big Baller Brand’s first pair of sneakers, but the new price nearly doubles the report. That retail price would rank higher than the LeBron 14s, the KD 9s, and both James Harden’s and Stephen Curry’s latest sneakers. It would also price higher than Paul George’s inaugural PG1’s, which retail at $109.99.

The bottom of the sneakers feature a custom-painted Big Baller Brand logo.

Ball unveiled the sneaker on Thursday through SLAM Magazine, where he spoke about he and his brothers’ vision of their own signature shoe, about a brand that they could claim as ours.

The Clippers could virtually lose everything they’ve built in this series if they fall to a wet-behind-the-ears Jazz team making its first playoff appearance since the Deron Williams era. A loss for Utah could be equally as damaging, though, as Hayward becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer and could jet town at a whim.

Jordan probably looks at Gobert and sees a younger, more spry version of himself. But even the Clippers center wasn’t this good this early.

But as a receiver, the objective of the position is to catch balls and make plays. I think no matter where you do that or what offense you do that in, it’s gonna translate. I think that’s something that I was able to show, that I was able to catch balls and make plays.

Even if those numbers were inflated, it still shows that I’m extremely productive in any type of offense that you put me in.

There’s at least one area in which the air raid should help, not hurt, his draft stock.

A feature of the modern spread is receivers running option routes that require them to read defenders and find grass.

John Lynch is the 49ers’ general manager, and his first move at the NFL draft on Thursday was to trade down from the second overall pick to the third. His next move was to spend the No. 3 pick on Stanford defensive tackle Solomon Thomas.

Lynch and Thomas had a unique bit of history together. When Thomas was a freshman at Stanford in 2014, Lynch turned up on campus. Via The MMQB’s Jenny Vrentas:

One of the classes he took that semester was a Management Science and Engineering class on how to make good decisions. Not only was Thomas in his class—they worked together on a project.

Limited Kids Phil Taylor Jersey Within the first 20 seconds of Game 1, the Utah Jazz lost the most important player on their team in Rudy Gobert. It seemed as if the momentum of Utah’s first 50-win season in seven years was all but gone. But the Jazz put up a fight against the Clippers the entire night. Despite having lost arguably the best defensive player in the league, the Jazz found a way. Then thanks to a Joe Johnson buzzer beater, the Jazz stole home court advantage and stunned the Clippers.

Game 2 was an entirely different story. While the Clippers couldn’t capitalize on the missing Rudy Gobert in Game 1, it’s all they did in Game 2. They poured in 60 points in the paint, including an 18-point, 15-rebound night from DeAndre Jordan. The Jazz were able to hang around to an extent but Chris Paul took over late and put the game away for good finishing with 21 points and 10 assists on the night.

The Golden State Warriors are everything beautiful in this world when they’re at their best. They were indeed at their best to open Game 4 against the Portland Trail Blazers, putting the ball into the hoop over and over again to the tune of a 45-22 opening quarter lead.

That’s on pace for a 180-point game and an 88-point win, and the 45 points tied an NBA playoffs record for most in a first quarter ever.

Anthony Castonzo Youth Jersey The most common name you’ll hear mentioned in these kinds of scenarios is Anaheim, who currently has four very good, young/prime-age defensemen (Hampus Lindholm, Sami Vatanen, Cam Fowler, and Josh Manson) who are all expansion-eligible, plus Kevin Bieksa, who has a no-movement clause and as such will either need a protection slot or a buyout. Assuming they can’t get Bieksa to waive said NMC, they have no other options for a player to fulfill their obligation to expose someone who’s played at least 70 games in the past two seasons. They’d have no choice but to expose one of those first four players, who would probably then be a lock to go to Vegas.

The Ducks are in a bad spot with the expansion draft when it comes to good young defensemen like Hampus Lindholm. Photo by Derek Leung/Getty Images
(And even if they could get Bieksa to waive his NMC and be exposed, and did decide to protect each of those other four defensemen, then they’d only be able to protect four forward. Due to NMCs given out to Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Ryan Kesler, they’d only have room to protect just one more forward on their entire roster. Not ideal.)

Prying one of those players away from Anaheim won’t be easy, because surely a number of teams will call the Ducks about this very situation and pitch them their best offer for one of those defensemen.

When Mixon punched Amanda Molitor in 2014, he broke her jaw and left her with facial fractures. Mixon was charged with a misdemeanor and sentenced to one year in jail, which was deferred, as well as 100 hours of community service and cognitive behavior counseling. He was also suspended by Oklahoma for a full season.

The conversation surrounding cases like Mixon’s is always difficult. You can’t avoid the stark reality of what he did, especially because it was captured on video. But the NFL is a business, and it is possible for teams to talk themselves into taking a chance on Mixon as he falls on draft day.

“I really think without the incident he’s a top-five pick,” one NFC executive told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s Bob McGinn. “He’s probably going to go late first to mid-second. This guy’s just too talented.”

McGinn spoke to several executives around the NFL who have evaluated Mixon, and perspectives vary.

Oh, and there’s one brother of an NFL Pro Bowler, too

Just days before the NFL draft, Ohio State cornerback Gareon Conley was accused of sexual assault. The alleged assault took place at a hotel in Cleveland, as first reported by Dan DeRoos of Cleveland 19. The Oakland Raiders drafted Conley with the 24th pick in the first round on Thursday night.

According to the police report obtained by Land-Grant Holy Land, police responded to a call at the Westin in downtown Cleveland to investigate an alleged sexual assault in a hotel suite bathroom on Sunday, April 9. Police arrived on the scene after 3 a.m. ET and spoke to two people who identified themselves as associates of Conley. Conley had already left the hotel when law enforcement arrived.

Elite Youth Matt Beleskey Jersey Butt finished last season as Michigan’s second-leading receiver with 46 catches for 546 yards and four touchdowns. He’s a sure-handed receiver who creates windows of opportunity downfield with crisp routes and strong hands. He works hard to get to the ball at the first possible point of contact, boxing out defensive backs and linebackers to limit turnovers and maximize gains.

Kelvin Sheppard Youth Jersey Though he doesn’t have elite top-end speed, he can be a threat up the seam and throughout patterns that break 10-20 yards from the line of scrimmage.

He’s not going to leave defensive backs in the dust after the catch, but he’s a powerful runner who can crash through arm tackles. He sees the field well with the ball in his hands and can turn safeties around or otherwise maximize his yardage. He’s reliable over the middle, using his 6’5, 250-pound frame to absorb contact and drive through to first downs when his team needs him.

And, he’s already raking in endorsement money. Butt signed a deal with, who else, Charmin toilet paper the week of the draft.

Jarome Iginla Jersey
The first round of the 2017 draft featured lots of trades, several quarterbacks off the board, and some surprise picks here and there. Most of the bigger surprises involved the Browns, and Cleveland actually made smart choices on Day 1 of the draft.

Hes a sure and consistent tackler, including a career-high 16 tackles against rival Michigan last year in Ohio States thrilling double-overtime win.

Hes solid against the run, but hes also reliable in zone coverage. That in and of itself makes him appealing at the NFL level. The incorporation of running backs and tight ends in passing games forces defenses to rely more on linebackers for effective coverage, and thats a selling point for McMillan.

McMillan was a leader at Ohio State, and thats a trend he plans to continue as a pro, too.

Im a captain at Ohio State. Everything we did on defense came through me and I can do the same thing for their program,McMillan said at the combine. Ill never give you a reason to let me go from their team and Ill always be a leader, never a follower.

Adam Foote Jersey Hes also a team player whos willing to adapt to whatever his coach thinks is best for the team.

Anywhere my coach can get me on the field, Ill willing to do the job,McMillan said. I cant even long-snap, but if you tell me to be the long-snapper Ill learn in two days.

If a coach asks me to guard Julio Jones, Ill do my best.

Man, that was close. The Pacers had a great chance to steal Game 1 on the Cavaliers home court, but this C.J. Miles jumper rimmed out. Cavaliers win, 109-108.

Elite Womens Nickell Robey Jersey Paul George had 29 points, including a long three-pointer to cut the Cavaliers lead to one before that final shot. So why didnt he take the final shot? The Cavaliers wouldnt let him.

LeBron James had 32 points and 13 assists in a spectacular playoff opener, but this isnt the best omen for Cleveland. They couldnt stop the Pacers consistently, a continuation of their defensive problems from the end of the regular season.

Elite Womens Carl Crawford Jersey Pierre Garcon and Marquise Goodwin were sneaky-good additions to the wideout corps in terms of roles Shanahan likes to fill, and Tim Hightower will provide key depth at running back. Don’t forget about the re-signing of the versatile, underrated Jeremy Kerley. Still, there should be an emphasis on adding more dynamic athletes to complement the QB overhaul.

Third or fourth round seems right for wide receiver, as Michigan’s Amara Darboh and Virginia Tech’s Isaiah Ford have been linked to San Francisco. A little later on Day 3, unique targets such as North Carolina’s Ryan Switzer and Clemson’s Artavis Scott should come into play.

At running back, the 49ers should look for a Tevin Coleman-type change of pace for Shanahan’s offense. The perfect prospect is San Diego State’s Donnel Pumphrey in the fifth round. North Carolina’s T.J. Logan sets up as a potential steal in the sixth round.

Samaje Perine was one of college football’s most consistent, efficient running backs over the last three seasons.

Perine’s Oklahoma Sooners evolved on offense during his time in Norman, shifting away from the run game even as they added talent to their backfield (he’s one of two OU backs we rank in this draft’s top eight runners). Perine’s overall numbers shrunk because of that, but he was still a 1,000-yard rusher every year.

He had lots of great games, and one stood out above the rest.

In the Dwane Casey era, Toronto has surrendered first-round Game 1s to the Brooklyn Nets, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers and now the Bucks. The Raptors are 1-2 in those series after dropping the first game, falling to the Nets in seven before getting swept by the Wizards in 2015.

Toronto made it to the conference finals last season despite dropping the opening game to Indiana.

It’s hard to put a finger on why the Raptors continue to lose their opening games. Toronto has held home-court in Game 1 of the first round in each of the last four years, yet they continue to blow that advantage. The staples of that roster — Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, Patrick Patterson and Jonas Valanciunas — have remained in tact, but the supporting cast has improved over the years.

It’s an inexcusable instance that has plagued an otherwise successful Raptors team in recent seasons — one expected to challenge the Cleveland Cavaliers this season.

Lowry scored just four points on two-of-11 shooting in the Raptors’ Game 1 loss on Saturday. Those shooting woes aren’t unique to this season.

LeBron James isnt just a basketball player, hes a music connoisseur. In the last week, he previewed new music from Meek Mill and Nipsey Hussle.

You can add West Coast rapper Kendrick Lamar to that list. CSU did come after the quarterback well, and perhaps CSUs lack of havoc in the back came because they were playing conservatively to allow risk-taking up front. Regardless, the Rams didnt get hands on many passes but ranked 65th in Passing S&P+. And while two of the top three corners are gone (if a star recruit like mid-three-star Christian Cumber is able to get up to speed quickly, playing time is available), the safety unit is loaded with experience. Seniors Jake Schlager and Justin Sweet, junior Braylin Scott, and sophomore Jamal Hicks have all gotten reps and shown potential.

Potential is good, and experience is great, but … now that needs to turn into improvement.

Limited Kids Jaye Howard Jersey James took to Instagram Stories to listen to Kendricks new album, titled DAMN. You can see in the video, the four-time league MVP co-signs the projects validity as he dances and bops his head from song to song.

The album hasnt even been released to the public yet, but when youre a three-time NBA champion, the world is your oyster.

Elite Brian Urlacher Jersey James has been relatively vocal when it comes to his musical tastes. He curated the playlist for the NBA 2K14, and revealed his favorite song (at the time) was fittingly Futures hit song March Madness.

Its safe to say K-Dot ranks high on The Kings music hierarchy. And that aint a bad place to be, considering hes the best basketball player in the world.
