The NHL has suspended Washington Capitals right winger Tom Wilson for four games for boarding St. Louis Blues forward Sammy Blais.

The league’s department of player safety announced the suspension Tuesday.

Wilson will forfeit $97,561 in salary. Even though this is the first regular-season suspension of his NHL career, Wilson is considered a repeat offender after being suspended for two preseason games for J.J. Nelson Youth jersey a late hit on Blues rookie Robert Thomas last month.

The Jaguars announced Wednesday night that they have signed linebacker Telvin Smith to a four-year extension. A source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the deal is worth up to $50 million.

Smith was in the final season of his rookie contract. He signed a four-year deal worth $2.43 million with only $211,052 guaranteed after the Jaguars drafted him in the fifth round in 2014.

Brady’s signature is on the doorsill plates, and his “TB12” logo can be seen throughout the vehicle, including on the fender and embossed on the headrests.

The five-time Super Bowl champion signed a deal with Aston Martin in May after more than a year of talking to the company.

With the guidance of the company’s chief creative officer, Marek Reichman, Brady personalized his car.

Cerqueira released a statement in early August via a publicist to NFL Network, saying that she had a vocal disagreement with Landry in March and that police were called, although she did not call them.

Cerqueira also said in the statement that “there were no criminal charges” and that she “was not in any way physically harmed.”

The Dolphins’ front office notified the NFL when it became aware of the investigation this spring, ESPN reported previously. Landry was up front with the team, as far as it knows, as soon as the altercation occurred.

Under the NFL’s personal conduct policy, Commissioner Roger Goodell has the authority to suspend players without criminal convictions. The league amended the policy three years ago to strengthen punishments in domestic cases.

Because of the injury, the Vikings traded a first-round pick to the Eagles for quarterback Sam Bradford, who led the team to an 8-8 record in 2016.

If a player starts the regular season on the PUP list, he has to sit for the first six weeks. And once that player is medically cleared, he is eligible to return to the field as early as Week 7.

According to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, Bridgewater visited Dr. Dan Cooper in Dallas for a checkup and physical on Monday. Cooper repaired Bridgewater’s torn ACL and dislocated knee in August 2016. Now that 24-year-old has been medically cleared to play, Minnesota has three weeks to decide whether he can play this season or not.

Game Kids Christian Jones Jersey Running back Leonard Fournette didn’t practice Wednesday because of an ankle injury, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Fournette didn’t practice at all this week to ensure that he is as healthy as possible for Sunday’s game at Indianapolis. The Jaguars’ offense is built around Fournette, and he accounts for 36.4 percent of the team’s total yards. That’s the second-highest percentage in the NFL behind Antonio Brown and Kareem Hunt (38.1 percent). Expect the Jaguars to be ultra-cautious with Fournette whenever he gets banged up. — Mike DiRocco

Andre Dawson Game Jersey DeMarco Murray missed Wednesday’s practice with a hamstring strain suffered Monday night against the Colts. It’s a minor injury but one that will require watching throughout the week. This is Murray’s third hamstring injury in as many months, so it’s a bit of a troublesome trend, even though it hasn’t cost him any regular-season games. Marcus Mariota is also real close to being himself after a strong practice Wednesday, so expect a more mobile quarterback Sunday in Cleveland. — Cameron Wolfe

Jason Witten caught all four of his targets for 54 yards and an incredible, one-handed touchdown against San Francisco on Sunday. It’s Witten’s second straight competent fantasy performance and continues a bizarre roller-coaster season for the 35-year-old tight end. Witten was fantasy’s No. 1 and No. 3 scoring tight end in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively, but was limited to a total of two catches for 12 yards the following two games.

The NFL did fine Mitchell $9,115 for that late hit on Smith, which came below the knees after Smith had delivered a pass. However, the Kansas City Star reports that the NFL slapped Mitchell with a $48,620 fine for a helmet-to-helmet shot on Chiefs running back Charcandrick West. The hit landed West in the league’s concussion protocol, and he missed Thursday’s game against the Raiders.

Yet it’s the hit on Smith that created the most controversy. After watching a replay, Smith himself said the hit was as flagrant as it gets. Mitchell drew a 15-yard penalty on that play, while the head shot on West did not get flagged.

The Steelers reasserted themselves as AFC contenders with the win. Said Goodell after the meetings concluded: “We spent today talking about the issues players are trying to bring attention to. Issues in our communities, to make our communities better.”

Goodell and owners moved on to other league topics after the portion of the owners meeting concerning the demonstrations around the anthem had concluded.

Many players came away from their meeting with Goodell thinking it was beneficial. A group of 11 owners and more than a dozen players met at the league’s headquarters. Among the topics discussed was enhancing players’ platforms for speaking out on social issues.

Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said the NFL’s policy on the national anthem “did not come up” during the meeting with the players, and Indianapolis Colts defensive back Darius Butler said he doesn’t think there will be any change in the rules regarding the anthem in the near future.falcons_137

Shilique Calhoun Game Jersey The Miami Dolphins’ owner, Stephen Ross, speaking in New York at a business meeting of the 32 owners, said that the league had made no changes to its policy and that players would be free to protest again this weekend.

I can’t really tell you what people are going to do, Ross said when asked if players would continue to protest. The league has a policy. It hasn’t changed.

The league’s rule book never required players to stand for the anthem but says they must be on the sideline during the song and should stand for it.

The percentage of people of color in team professional administrative positions substantially increased from 22 percent in 2016 to 27.3 percent in 2017. Women in these positions also increased significantly from 33.2 percent in 2016 to 35.9 percent in 2017. This was the highest percent of women in professional administration positions since 2007.

Teams need to follow the example set by the league office, as percentages for women at the team level remain significantly below those at the league level. The NFL continues to make progress on and off the field regarding racial and gender hiring practices and I am sure that athlete activism will help even more as the NFL moves its teams to follow its example as it embraces diversity and inclusion.

Owners have expressed to players that they would like for the players to stand for the anthem, according to Mara. But the league’s support of players’ social programs should not be interpreted as a trade-off to get players to stand for the anthem, he said.

Encarnacion wasn’t even available in Game 3, Francona said. But the defending AL champions have chosen not to pursue replacing him on the active roster because that would make the three-time All-Star ineligible in the next round.

I think we’re making the right decision, Francona said. Because to not have Edwin — and it hurt us [Sunday] night — to just write him off if we can move on, that would be tough to do.

Francona was initially skeptical when pitching coach Mickey Callaway and former Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash, now the Tampa Bay Rays’ manager, lobbied him to plug Carrasco back into the rotation in August 2014. But Francona gave it a shot, and Carrasco shut down the Yankees in New York in his first outing and logged a 5-3 record and a 1.30 ERA in 10 starts down the stretch. In hindsight, his exposure to relieving gave him the mental skills he needed to get over the hump as a starter.

Authentic Jamaal Charles Jersey I think when he went to the bullpen and took that mentality of just going as hard as he could from pitch one and not worrying about getting deep into the game, that’s when we saw things click for him, Chernoff said. Regardless of what happens Sunday or the rest of October, Carrasco’s emergence is another tribute to Cleveland’s pitcher development approach. Francona, Callaway, the Indians’ front office and the organization’s development staff have shown a knack for recognizing pitching talent, nurturing it and showing the requisite patience to achieve big results.

That’s still a shock to me, said Smart. I’m 23 years old and you guys are calling me the longest-tenured Celtic. I never in a million years would have thought about that.

Or as Terry Rozier III (the Roman numerals added to his jersey this offseason) more bluntly put it: To remain on the Celtics after a tornado happened is crazy.

To sign Hayward to a max contract, changes were necessary. Familiar faces such as Avery Bradley and Kelly Olynyk were lost to make a free-agent splash. It turned out that was only a warm-up act, as Ainge dropped jaws around the NBA by dealing Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic, the Brooklyn Nets’ 2018 first-round pick and the Miami Heat’s 2020 second-round pick to Cleveland in exchange for Kyrie Irving.

It’s definitely different than any other time I’ve been here, Walton said of how it felt to be in Las Vegas this weekend. … It’s definitely a little strange [walking around] after what happened. You know what? I love to pitch everywhere, Carrasco told reporters Saturday. Home, here, other stadiums. It’s the postseason. There are going to be a lot of people [watching]. This is going to be my first time, but I always say, it’s the same baseball.

While Bauer is a work in progress at age 26, Carrasco’s r茅esum茅 reflects the volatile and often unpredictable nature of player development. He was a perennial top-10 prospect in the Philadelphia system after signing for a $300,000 bonus out of his native Venezuela in 2003, but the results didn’t quite match the physical gifts, and he was tagged with a label that came to define him in his formative years.

A man who was left blind in one eye — at least temporarily — and may ultimately lose the eye after a foul ball struck him in the face at Wrigley Field this summer has filed a lawsuit against the Chicago Cubs and Major League Baseball, alleging that they have failed to install enough safety netting to protect him and other fans.

At a Monday news conference 60-year-old John “Jay” Loos said he has undergone three surgeries to repair his severely damaged left eye and the five bones in his face shattered by the foul ball that struck him as he sat down the first-base line during a game between the Cubs and the Pittsburgh Pirates on Aug. 29.

One more: In Game 4 of the other ALDS, Astros DH Carlos Beltran doubled off Red Sox closer Craig Kimbrel to drive in a crucial insurance run in the ninth inning. Kimbrel is one of the best relievers ever, but at that moment he was probably compromised. Beltran hit Kimbrel’s 38th pitch of the game, his 23rd of that inning, and his eighth of that at-bat. The wear of the previous 37 seemed to show: Kimbrel’s first five fastballs of the night were 99, 101, 101, 100 and 100; his final five were 98, 97, 98, 97, 98. Still hard to hit!

Adrian Peterson, RB, Arizona Cardinals (47.5 percent): Peterson, traded to the Cardinals on Tuesday, gets the chance to show one more time whether he still has the goods to be a starting running back in this league. The opportunity is there, as Arizona’s run game has been a none factor since David Johnson’s injury. While Peterson has minimal passing game impact, he seems likely to get 12-15 carries per game right away. In a non-PPR league, especially one with 12 or more teams, he’s an add for an owner with limited options. Is there upside? Much of the recent empirical evidence says no (since the start of last season, he has 153 yards on 64 carries, 2.39 yards per carry), but this presents a chance for AD to get on track.ravens_005
